How to Generate More Leads for Your Chartered Accountancy Practice

Kasra Dash:
If you are a chartered accountant looking for a consistent flow of enquiries through your website and company, this video is for you. James and I have worked with many chartered accountants throughout the UK, so we know what works in marketing and what doesn’t. In this video we break everything down, so James, take it away.

James Dooley:
Step one for growth is building your Google Business Profile. If you already have one, reach out to all existing clients and collect as many five-star reviews as possible. A strong Google Business Profile generates more leads. Make sure you're getting citations, posting regularly, and uploading photos. That’s the first step to generating more local leads.

Kasra Dash:
Step two strengthens your Google Business Profile: create dedicated, SEO-optimised service pages for each service you offer. These pages not only rank themselves but also increase your Google Business Profile visibility for those keywords, which helps you get even more phone calls.

James Dooley:
If you want more local leads, PPC lead generation is another option. That includes Google or Bing pay-per-click campaigns that target bottom-of-the-funnel keywords. The challenge is working with a capable PPC agency, because click fraud exists and you need a strong negative keyword list, especially to avoid job-seeker traffic. PPC works well but can waste money in the wrong hands.

Kasra Dash:
You can also use Meta ads on Facebook and Instagram. Users scrolling through their feed may see your ad. You can run simple lead form ads that keep the user inside Facebook—although the lead quality may vary—or you can run conversion ads that send traffic to your website to complete a contact form. Both options work depending on your goals.

James Dooley:
Another way to grow local leads is through organic social media. Regular posting on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram, Reddit, and Quora helps you attract more local enquiries. If people have questions, you can answer them and build visibility.

Kasra Dash:
Organic social media is a volume game. You need a consistent posting schedule—daily or weekly. If your plan is five videos per week, stick to it, especially for platforms like YouTube and Twitter.

James Dooley:
What are your thoughts on AI agents? If people team up with someone who can use tools like N8N to automate and schedule social media posts, could AI help with lead generation?

Kasra Dash:
Yes, you can set up AI agents to crop videos and autopublish across multiple platforms. But I would also focus on AI search. Some people are shifting away from Google to models like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Grok. If your brand doesn’t show up there, you’ll struggle to generate leads from these engines. Companies need to start paying attention to AI search visibility.

James Dooley:
If you want more business leads locally, you can also join tradespeople websites such as Checkatrade, Bark, Builder Builder, TrustATrader, and Rated People. These platforms can generate a lot of local leads. Make sure you track KPIs: cost per lead, cost per acquisition, and return on investment. We also have comparison videos on these platforms on our channel.

James Dooley:
Speaking of lead generation, Casra, what are your thoughts on lead generation companies versus tradespeople websites?

Kasra Dash:
With lead generation companies, always do your due diligence. Make sure the company has generated leads in your niche before. Have a strategy call, explain your budget, and check whether your KPIs align. You also need to know if the leads are exclusive or shared. With platforms like Bark and Checkatrade, most leads are shared, which creates a race to the bottom on pricing. Ask these questions before partnering with any lead gen company.

James Dooley:
If you want more local leads, visit fatrank.com. We run a commission-based lead generation service where you only pay a finder’s fee on converted jobs. You don’t pay per lead. You only pay after the job is completed and paid for. Head over to fatrank.com to see if you qualify. Now, Casra, what are your thoughts on inbound vs outbound lead generation?

Kasra Dash:
I always prefer inbound. The conversion rate from lead to paying customer is much higher. The last statistic I saw showed that around 16.1% of inbound leads convert into paying customers, compared to about 1.4% for outbound leads.
